Works range from creative abstract works, stunning landscapes and figurative styles, all well worth exploring. Enfield Art Circle was started back in 1932 by some local artists and continued, without a break, even throughout the war years. Ever since its foundation, it has held exhibitions annually. For the last 10 years, we have organised a summer exhibition held at Capel Manor. Their generosity in providing us with facilities has been invaluable, however, due to the coronavirus, like many others, we cannot offer an open exhibition this year, so, undaunted, we are putting our skills to the test with an online show. We are always keen to welcome new members both experienced and inexperienced, professional and amateur with an interest in exploring the creative arts. So do consider joining us as a way of expanding your interests. During normal times, we offer a range of activities such as talks, demonstrations, practical sessions, occasional workshops, outings to places of artistic interest and we also support some local art classes. Details of how to join us, our history and what we do are on our website www.enfieldartcircle.org Visit the Enfield Art Circle’s online art exhibition at www.enfieldartcircle.org/art2020 The exhibition will be open from October 18th - 24th December 2020. You can browse our paintings and ceramics at your leisure and many works will be available to purchase. A charitable donation taken from a percentage of sales proceeds will go to Enfield Young Carers, so each sale will make a difference to them. We hope you will enable us to support others by purchasing from this exhibition.https://enfieldfestivals.co.uk/news/eac-online-art-exhibition-2020/Millfield Manga Mural - by Sonoko Obuchihttps://enfieldfestivals.co.uk/news/millfield-manga-mural-by-sonoko-obuchi/A bespoke mural celebrating the cultural diversity and artistic vibrancy of Edmonton has been unveiled at the Millfield Theatre.Featuring students from Platinum Dance, the artwork was created by Sonoko Obuchi and unveiled during the Enjoy Enfield Summer, a fortnight of outdoor, socially distanced free arts and culture, hosted by Enfield Council. The mural celebrates the local area but also marks the start of an important era for Platinum. As we reopen our town centres, we are asking our residents to reimagine our namesake – the Enfield!
The Enfield is one of the strangest creatures in heraldry; the head of a fox, legs of an eagle, chest of a greyhound, body of a lion and the hindquarters and tail of a wolf. The beast can be seen all over the borough, including the coat of arms for the London borough of Enfield.
Enfield Council will be celebrating its town centres between 14 August and 31 August for Enjoy Enfield Summer, and we want our residents to join in by drawing their own versions of the Enfield beast!
The competition is open to anyone and everyone. Create a new version of the beast which represents what Enfield means to you, our residents. You can colour in the outline of the Enfield in the template provided HERE or feel free to reimagine the beast with your own outline.
Your final designs can be handed into the Dugdale Centre in Enfield Town at the below address Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 5pm. Designs must be marked with your name, contact details and whether you are under 11 [please provide contact details of parent or guardian], 11 - 18 or adult! The deadline for final designs will be 10th August 2020.
The winning designs will be printed as posters and distributed around the borough in local shops and houses for all of Enfield to see!
